Top Ten Tuesday: Characters Who Appreciate Words

This is a list of characters from books I love who love reading almost as much as me!

Scout Finch- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Growing up one of my favorite books was TKAMB. Scout was my kindred spirit. She also loved reading and was far above her reading level by the time she went to school, just as I had been.

Hermione Granger- Harry Potter Series. This should be self-explanatory, but in case it’s not… Hermione was the bookworm to end all bookworms. She firmly believed you could find any answer in a library and I agree.

Elizabeth Bennet- Pride and Prejudice. The original snarky smart allec and my role model for all things sass.

Briony- Atonement. The story starts with Briony as a playwright and it moves through her surreal growth to an author.

Meggie- Inkheart. This little girl loved books more than anyone and was feisty to boot.

Nora Fisher- The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic. Nora is a graduate student working on a thesis when she gets sucked into a parallel universe. This is currently my favorite book.

Meg- A Wrinkle in Time. This was my favorite book in middle school. Meg was a strong intelligent character that inspired me to move beyond those awkward preteen years.

Cath- Fangirl. Cath is that obsessive fan that’s inside all of us. She doesn’t want to say goodbye to her favorite book series and writes fanfiction to ease the pain.

Klaus- Series of Unfortunate Events. His mind has been so tuned to the written word he can pick out patterns and clues that save the day.

Catherine- Northanger Abby. Catherine is a silly tomboy who loves reading dramatic novels and imagining herself to be a tragic heroine.
